JEE Main 2027 Result: Key Dates, Marks vs. Percentile, How to Download, Normalization Process
for The National Testing Agency (NTA) will publish the JEE Main result 2027 for each session separately on its official website – jeemain.nta.nic.in, immediately after the final answer key is released. The results for the January Session are anticipated to be published in February 2027, whereas the results for the April Session are expected by April 2027.
The results will contain specifics like the candidate’s NTA score (Percentile), All India Rank (AIR), subject-wise percentile, qualifying status for JEE Advanced 2027, and additional pertinent information.
JEE Main 2027 is set to take place in two sessions:
- Session 1: January 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 28, 2027.
- Session 2: April 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, 2027.
Given that JEE Main is held in two sessions, the NTA applies a normalization technique to derive the percentile scores.
Applicants are recommended to download and retain a copy of their JEE Main scorecard upon release, as it will be needed during JoSAA counselling 2027, document verification, and the admissions procedure at IITs, NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and other private colleges.
Candidates can view their JEE Main 2027 results by entering their application number and password. NTA also sends the JEE Main scorecard to the registered email IDs of candidates and their parents for transparency, backup, and official records.

JEE Main 2027 Rank List Expected
NTA will also release the JEE Main 2027 rank list along with the final results. Therefore, each candidate can locate their confirmed rank in the JEE Main scorecard. The ranking will depend on the applicants’ percentile, and they will be given category-specific ranks as well as an All India Rank (AIR).
The table below presents the provisional JEE Main 2027 marks compared to ranks, created using trends from previous years. This information is for reference purposes only, since the actual scores and ranks can differ based on the final results and cut-off provided by NTA.

JEE Main 2027: Raw Marks vs. Percentile
JEE Main exam takes place across multiple shifts; therefore, NTA does not rank the raw scores. The marks of every candidate are converted into an NTA score, representing a percentile specific to their shift.
NTA score = 100 x (candidates in the session who scored the same or lower) / (candidates who participated in the session).
If you score 99th percentile, then it means you have surpassed 99% of your peers. NTA scores are assigned to seven decimal places, for every subject as well as in total. Taking both sessions means only the higher of your two combined NTA scores will be considered, and the JEE Main Rank (AIR) is announced following Session 2.
Ties in the overall NTA score are resolved using the NTA score in Mathematics, followed by Physics, then Chemistry, and next by the lower proportion of incorrect to correct answers overall, and finally in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
Candidates who are still tied after that will receive the same rank.
JEE Main 2027 Rank vs. Percentile
Estimated rank = (100 – percentile) x 15,38,468 / 100, with 15,38,468 representing the candidates who took Paper 1 in 2026 (both sessions, counted once). Current rankings vary slightly since percentiles are calculated shift by shift, and candidates can have the same scores.
| NTA percentile | Approximate All India Rank (2026 numbers) |
| 99.99 | 154 |
| 99.9 | 1,538 |
| 99.5 | 7,692 |
| 99 | 15,385 |
| 98 | 30,769 |
| 97 | 46,154 |
| 96 | 61,539 |
| 95 | 76,923 |
| 93.41 | 1,01,385 |
| 90 | 1,53,847 |
| 85 | 2,30,770 |
| 80 | 3,07,694 |
NTA does not release a marks-to-percentile table: identical marks yield varying percentiles in an easy exam and a difficult one.
The JEE Main scorecard displays your name as it appears on the Class 10 certificate. It is obtained from the JEE Main official website, rather than being uploaded.
Normalization and Percentile Rankings
- The normalization formula determines the percentile score by finding the percentage of candidates who scored equal to or lower than the candidate in a specific session.
- A percentile score of 90 indicates that the candidate performed better than 90% of those who participated in that session.
- This standardized percentile establishes rankings and eligibility for subsequent rounds.
Overall Marks and Rank
- Candidates participating in both JEE Main sessions will have their highest percentile score (from either session) taken into account for the final All India Rank (AIR).
- The NTA creates a comprehensive merit list following the second session results, which is utilized for seat distribution in NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and for eligibility for JEE Advanced.
How are the JEE Main results formulated?
- NTA combines percentile scores for overall raw marks from all sessions (e.g., Day 1 Shift 1, Day 1 Shift 2) based on the earlier calculation.
- These combined scores form the final NTA scores utilized for result aggregation and candidate distribution.
Role of Final Answer Key in Result Formulation
The final answer key forms the basis of the JEE Main results as it helps authorities to calculate official scores, normalization, percentiles, and JEE Main Rank. NTA releases the final answer key after the challenges raised by test-takers against the provisional answer key are resolved. If subject experts find a valid objection, it will be updated in the final answer key.
No further review will be entertained after that.
Unlike the provisional key, which is temporary, the final answer key is locked, unchangeable, and serves as the bedrock for result calculation. Therefore, any changes to the final answer key will alter the entire merit list and All India Rank List.
Tie-Breaker Rules in JEE Main
If multiple candidates achieve identical overall NTA percentiles in Paper 1, the NTA follows this sequence:
- Elevated percentile in Mathematics.
- If still equal, higher percentile in Physics (Aptitude for Paper 2).
- Subsequently, a greater percentile in Chemistry (Drawing for Paper 2A & Planning-Based Questions for Paper 2B).
- If still equal, a reduced ratio of wrong to right answers among all subjects (accuracy-based standard).
- Ultimately, if the tie continues, NTA gives the identical rank to all applicants.
Re-assessment or review of JEE Main results is not allowed; announced scores are conclusive.
