How to Choose JEE Main 2027 Exam City Preferences?
Applicants have the option to select their preferred examination cities during the JEE Main registration process.
- Go to the official site at nta.nic.in.
- Activate the JEE Main 2027 registration process once it is initiated.
- Fill out the necessary registration and personal information.
- Go to the section for choosing your examination city.
- Examine the cities that can be chosen according to the application guidelines.
- Select the allowed cities based on your preference.
- Review your choices before final submission.
- Finish the rest of the JEE Main 2027 application form and pay the fee.
Rules for choosing your 4 cities
- Order of Importance: Start by choosing the nearest location (Choice 1) and proceed with secondary alternatives (Choices 2, 3, and 4) while choosing your exam cities. The NTA strives to allocate your top choice initially, proceeding down the list if seats or facilities are not available.
- Dependent on Address Information: The city choices displayed in your drop-down menu are directly influenced by the permanent and current address information you provide in the application form. Ensure that these addresses are correct.
- Allocation & Conclusiveness: After the NTA designates an exam centre and provides the city notification slip or admit card, you are unable to modify the test city.
What if fewer than 4 cities are available in your state?
You must choose exam locations mainly within your state or your present state of residence/study. If the state of your permanent or current address has less than four available exam cities, NTA guidelines may permit choices based on administrative regulations.
Rules for candidates with an address outside India
Compared to last year (15 Cities), the choices of cities for students living outside India are now limited to 9, as per the latest notification, making it extremely difficult to choose the right city and make travel plans.
- Foreign candidates can choose up to 4 cities outside India, including Gulf countries and Nepal, from the drop-down menu.
- They must pick a city that is close to their country and move on to other choices depending on their preferences.
- NTA will assign you a city of your first choice, but it may allot a different one depending on the availability of seats, and logistical constraints.
- All foreign candidates must choose at least one city in India among their preferences.
Is It Possible for NTA to Assign an Exam City Other Than Your Choice?
Yes. Choosing a preferred exam city does not ensure that you will be assigned to that city.
NTA will try to assign a city in the order that each candidate prefers. However, due to logistical or administrative needs, the agency retains the authority to choose a different city.
Things to consider while picking your preferred cities
- Choose the Nearest City First: To prevent tiresome travel during exam month, pick the city that is nearest to your actual residence.
- Realistic Backups (Choices 2–4): For your second, third, and fourth preferences, pick sensible backup cities that are conveniently accessible by car or train in case your first choice fills up. Unless absolutely required, avoid choosing cities that require challenging overnight travel.
- Verify via Official Bulletin: Before making your selections, confirm the city codes and availability in Appendix II of the official Information Bulletin.
How to Verify JEE Main 2027 Exam Centre Assigned to Students?
Candidates can verify their assigned exam location and its exact address once the NTA issues the JEE Main 2027 admit card and city slips for the corresponding session.
- Go to nta.nic.in.
- Access the JEE Main 2027 admit card link once it is released.
